How to Read the Book of Genesis
The whole Bible is a sermon about Jesus (John 5:39)
The New Testament is hidden in the Old Testament (Revelation 22:2)
The Old Testament is made clear in the New Testament (Matthew 5:21-22)
God wrote the Bible through prophets and apostles (2 Peter 2:19-21; 2 Tim 3:16)
The Old Testament is understood through the New Testament. (Hebrews 1:1-2)
Justification by Faith in Jesus is the teaching of the whole Bible (Rom 3:19-26)
The seen and unseen is created by God who is Himself uncreated (Gen & John 1:1)
God created all that is seen and unseen is six (24 hour) days (Gen 1 & 2)
Creation took place in about 4,000 B.C. (8,000 B.C. at the latest)
How Long is a Day
Genesis 1:5 … So the evening and the morning were the first day.
Genesis 5:5 5 So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years;
Genesis 7:4 4 For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”
Numbers 9:16 So it was always: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
Psalm 136:8 The sun to rule by day, For His mercy endures forever;
How Patient Is God
2 Peter 3:8 This verse is about the patience of God; not the length of a day.
Psalm 84:10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Note: These are comparisons. A simile is when one thing “is like” another.
How Many Generations
Exodus 20:5-6 For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
Matthew 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.
Note: There haven’t been a thousand generations, yet.
What is the Best Way to Learn About Creation?
The local library has science books for children. They contain the awe of creation.
